Don't end up with stained crowns
When some people end up having crowns put on a lot of their teeth, they can get a little bit careless with regards to taking care of their crowns. This is due to the fact that a lot of people are under the assumption that crowns don't stain as easily as natural teeth do. This information is false. The material that crowns are made out of can also stain if the crowns are subjected to the wrong foods, drinks and other habits and then not cleaned the way they should be with regular brushing and flossing. Something you should realize about crowns is it is actually even more important to keep them from getting stained because they can't be whitened with whitening treatments the way your natural teeth can be.
Don't end up with broken crowns
Some people think if they have a crown put in that has a porcelain overlay over metal material then the crowns are practically invincible. This is not true and you can end up breaking the porcelain and having it come off from the metal just as easily as you can end up breaking one of your natural teeth. For this reason, you want to continue treating your teeth as carefully as you can.
Don't end up with crowns that come out
Once you have had crowns put in, be sure you don't try to use them as tools. Crowns are not meant to do things like open plastic packages or twist the lid off a soda. Doing things like this with your crowns can actually cause them to come loose and fall out of your mouth. If this happens, you'll have to take the crown back in to the dentist and they will have to re-bond it to your tooth. However, if the crown is damaged or lost during the incident, then you are going to have to go through the entire process again and you'll have to endure the expense of paying for another crown to be made.
